Ganga Dussehra, also known as Gangavataran, is an important Hindu festival that commemorates the descent of the sacred River Ganga from heaven to Earth. According to Hindu tradition, the river descended through the locks of Lord Shiva following the penance of King Bhagirath, bringing salvation to his ancestors and blessing humanity.
