Mukteshwar: It is situated at a distance of 20kms from Naukuchiyatal set at an elevation of 2,285mts above sea level. Mukteshwar got its name from a 350year old temple Mukteshwer Dham whose presiding deity is great Lord Shiva. The top of the mountain on which Mukteshwar Dham is stood offers stupendous views of the Himalayan range. Mukteshwar was developed by the Britishers as a research and education institute (IVRI) in 1893.
SatTal: Sat Tal is a cluster of mysteriously interconnected seven freshwater lakes situated 219kms from Naukuchiyatal on the road to Bhim Tal. Sat tal is set at an altitude of 1370mts above sea level. The group of lakes is set amidst dense forests of oak and pine trees. These lakes are a paradise for migratory birds as they stay for some time here during their migration. Sattal is one of the few unspoiled and unpolluted freshwater biomes in India. The names of the seven lakes of Sattal are Purna Tal, Ram Tal, Sita tal, Laxman Tal, Nal Damyanti Tal, Sukh Tal and Garud Tal. Sattal is often compared with Westmoreland of England by Britishers.
Nainital: It is situated at a distance of 28 kms from Naukuchia Tal at an elevation of 1,938mts above sea level. Nainital is named after an eye-shaped lake set amidst the mountains with thick alpine trees. The lake is on its majestical height during the night time when the light of the houses, cottages, and hotels situated on the mountains covering Nainital reflects upon it and makes the view invigorating.
Almora: The district of Almora is a picturesque place located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Ranikhet literally means Queens Meadow or Queens's field. Ranikhet hosts a vast bio-diversity of flora and fauna. Ranikhet is situated 73kms from Naukuchiyatal set at an altitude of 1,869mts above sea level.
BhimTal: It is situated at a distance of 19kms from Naukuchiyatal at an altitude of 1,375mts above sea level. The main attraction in Bhimtal is Bhimtal Lake which has a small island at its center. Bheemtal is an ancient place named after the legendary Bhima of Mahabharata when Bhima visited the place during the exile period of Pandavas. Bhimtal is older than the town of Nainital and is considered as one of the best excursions of Nainital. Bhim Tal is well connected with Kathgodam and all Kumaon regions and Nepal. It is an unsolved mystery but this place might have been the part of the ancient silk route of China.
Haldwani: Haldwani is situated in the Nainital district of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state at an average elevation of 425mts above sea level. Haldwani is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas in the bhabhar region of the Indo-Gangetic plains. Haldwani is popularly known as the 'gateway of Kumaon' sharing its twin township with Kathgodam.
