Ganesha Cave is a naturally formed cave located in Badrinath. As per Hindu beliefs, it is said that Lord Ganesha penned Mahabharata in this cave as dictated by Rishi Vyas. This cave is located near the famous Vyas Cave and holds religious significance in the lives of the people. Being surrounded by lush green trees the cave offers a pleasant view of the gorgeous vista of the Himalayan ridges.

As per ancient Hindu scripts, the Ganesha cave is the site where Lord Ganesha penned down the epic Mahabharata as dictated by Ved Vyas.

Location & How to Reach Ganesha Cave

Ganesha Cave is located about 4 km from Badrinath Dham. On reaching Badrinath, you need to commence a short 3 km trek to Mana village or you can alternatively hire a taxi to reach there. Then from Mana, a brisk 1 km hike will lead you to Ganesha Cave. Since the trek involves a steep climb, elderly people should avoid it as they may run out of breath.

By Air: Jolly Grant airport at Dehradun located about 314 km is the nearest airport to Badrinath. Taxis are easily available from this airport to Badrinath. 

By Rail: At Rishikesh, you’ll find the nearest railhead to Badrinath. The Rishikesh Railway station is 295 km before Badrinath on NH58. One can easily hire a taxi or take a bus from Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Chamoli etc. to reach Badrinath. 

By Road: Badrinath being a popular pilgrim place possess a great network of roads. The travellers can commence their journey from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi to reach the nearest city to Badrinath. The buses and taxis to Badrinath are easily available from major destinations like Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Srinagar etc.
