The Tapta Kund is a thermal spring located amidst the Badrinath temple and Alaknanda River. This natural hot water spring is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The pond bears sulphur water measuring the temperature of 45°C.
The devotees revere this pond as sacred as it is believed to be the holy abode of Agni God. The lake also possesses healing properties. It is said, that having a holy dip in Tapta Kund before entering the shrines imparts goodness and purity. Therefore, it has become a common ritual.
How to Reach Tapta Kund
The hot spring is situated on the right just before the entrance of the Badrinath temple. It is situated very near the Badrinath temple so that devotees can take a dip before entering the holy shrine as it is a common ritual. It is located between the Alaknanda River and the holy shrine of Badrinath. Tourists can reach Tapt Kund via NH-58 from Rishikesh to Badrinath. The Badrinath temple is just 10 minutes away from the bus stand. Just before the Badrinath temple, there is the Tapt Kund on the right side.
