Auli Ropeway is the major attraction in Auli offering magnificent and majestic Himalayan views. A highest and longest ropeway in Asia after Gulmarg, Auli cable car covers a distance of 4 kms.

Joshimath - Auli Ropeway (Cable Car/Gondola Ride)

There are 10 steel towers supporting the two cabin bi-cable ropeway in Auli. Cable Car covers an exact distance of 4.15 kms in 25 minutes and total ascent is 1110 mtrs.

From Auli cable car, visitors also witness the different Skiing competitions organize by GMVN. Currently Ropeway from Joshimath to Auli is open. The tariff for Cable Car is Rs 1000/- per person and the charges for Chair Lift are Rs 300/- per person. A remote braking and storm warning system is also fitted in the chair lift.

Latest Auli Rope way Information

The operation of Joshimath-Auli Ropeway, one of the largest ropeways in Asia, was stopped in January 2023 due to Land Subsidence in Auli-Joshimath belt. In the survey conducted 8by the technical team, it has been said that many towers of the ropeway have been damaged. The survey team has suggested that the alignments of all the towers should be changed and constructed afresh. This entire process will take a lot of time. The ropeway will be constructed afresh by replacing all the towers. Only after this the ropeway will be operational.

Joshimath-Auli Ropeway has 10 towers. The distance of this ropeway from Joshimath to Auli is about four and a half km. Most of the tourists coming to Auli prefer to travel by ropeway. This not only saves time but also provides relief from the jam on Joshimath-Auli road. The view of Auli is visible in 360 degrees from the tower.
