The Katarmal Surya Temple is a 9th-century temple built by Katarmalla, a Katyuri King, exhibiting the architectural style of the ancient artisans. This Hindu temple is perched at an elevation of 2,116 meters above sea level and is situated at a distance of 19 kms from Almora. This temple once boasted the intricate designs carved on the wooden doors and panels of the temple, making it the second most beautiful shrine in India, after the Konark Sun Temple.
