Objective of the Uttarakhand Home Stay scheme:
- To improve their economic condition by providing self-employment to the local people.
- To introduce tourists to the state's cuisine, culture, historical heritage and traditional / Pahari style.
- Stop migration from the state by creating local employment.
- Target to develop 5000 home stays under Vision 2020.
Benefits of the homestay scheme
- State assistance will also be provided to the eligible applicants for taking loan from the bank for setting up the home stay / renovation of the house.
- The amount of SGST will be reimbursed by the department for the first three years on the income received from the home stay.
- A separate website and mobile app will be developed for the promotion of the scheme.
- Homestay operators will be given hospitality training.
- Reimbursement of charges payable on bond deed against sanction of business loan to the extent of thirty lakh rupees.
- Upgradation, furnishing, maintenance in old buildings and construction of new toilets to the extent of Rs. 2 lakh will not require land-change.
Uttarakhand Home Stay Scheme Aid:
- For plain districts, 25 percent of the cost or maximum Rs 7.50 lakh basic subsidy and maximum interest subsidy benefit of Rs 1.00 lakh / year for five years.
- For hilly districts, 33 percent of the cost or maximum Rs 10.00 lakh basic subsidy and maximum interest subsidy of Rs. 1.50 lakh / year for five years.
Key updates for Homestays
All tourism-related businesses, including hotels, motels, adventure activities, tent colonies, spas, and health resorts, must register under the Tour & Travel Policy.
Homestays have now been brought under mandatory registration.
Registration is not a one-time process and must be renewed every five years.
A Bed & Breakfast scheme has been introduced for urban and commercial tourism ventures.
Scheme Terms and Conditions
- The landlord is physically residing in the building with his/her family.
- It will be mandatory to register your building under the home stay scheme.
- 1 to 6 rooms can be arranged for tourists.
- This scheme will be applicable in the entire state except the municipal area.
- Preference to buildings constructed/developed in traditional/hill style.
