Sankri is the base camp for quite a few popular trekking trails into the Himalayas such as Kedarkantha, Har-ki-Dun valley, Bali Pass, Borasu Pass, Ruinsara Tal, Rupin Pass, Swargarohini Parikarma Expedition from Sankri. While the Har-ki-Dun trek may be quite challenging for inexperienced folks, one could give Kedarkantha trek a go, since it is relatively less difficult and easily accessible. Apart from that, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking in the lush green vicinity of Sankri.

Some of the rare and endangered bird species such as Himalayan Snow Cock, Bearded vulture, black eagle do make an appearance every now and then. Bulbuls, Cuckoos, Finches, Minivets, Owls, Parakeets, Thrushes and Warblers are other bird species prevalent in the region.
