Kedarkantha Vs Har ki Dun

Kedarkantha or Har ki Dun Trek?

Kedarkantha Trek and Har ki Dun Trek are two of the most popular trekking routes starting from Sankri Village in Uttarkashi district. Since both treks share the same base village, trekkers often wonder which one should be attempted first.

Although both trails begin from Sankri, they offer completely different trekking experiences. Kedarkantha is a summit trek known for panoramic mountain views and winter snow, whereas Har ki Dun is a valley trek that passes through ancient villages, forests and alpine meadows before reaching the cradle-shaped Har ki Dun Valley.

Which Trek Should You Choose?

If you are looking for your first Himalayan summit trek with snow-covered trails and panoramic mountain views, Kedarkantha is usually the better choice. On the other hand, if you prefer a longer trek through traditional Himalayan villages, forests and one of Uttarakhand's most beautiful valleys, Har ki Dun offers a richer cultural and landscape experience.

Both treks start from Sankri but provide completely different experiences, making them worth exploring on separate trips.
