Not only Shiva but Devi Parvati (Goddess) and Lord Ganesha are also there at Shiv Gufa of Niti Valley. Govermnet of Uttarakhand is trying to get permission to open this valley for tourists so that it can increase some new trekking routes and generate employment for locals.

Timmersain Mahadev - A magical cave with a natural Shivling of Snow

In the winter season, a natural Shivlinga is formed in this spiritual cave of Timmersain Mahadev in Niti village of Chamoli. This village is situated on Indo - China border in the lap of snow capped garhwal himalayas. Special permission is required to visit this place. 

The Shivling looks almost like the shivalinga of Amarnath Cave of Jammu. The  Timmersain Mahadev cave is a very sacred place in the Niti - Joshimath region of Chamoli Garhwal. Local dweller come and pay their obeisance to lord Shiva in the summer season.

Best Time To Visit Timmersain Mahadev - Yatra Season

Although, Uttarakhand tourism department allows travellers and pilgrims to this place from the month of February but because of excessive snowfall in the season it could be hard to reach there. For the year of 2019, the yatra was scheduled for 10th of February at the time of Vasant Panchami but now it is postponed to first week of March.

This year the first batch to Timmersain Mahadev reached on 29th of April. About 400 pilgrims visits this site after a small Pooja at Nanda Devi temple at Niti village of Joshimath. You can also visit this shrine on this summers.

Application form/permit/registration to visit Timmersain Mahadev

As this cave is located on the border of Indo-Tibbet so people from other parts of the country are not allowed without the permission. 

Guidelines to fill the form:

• Download the application form from here: Application form Timmersain Mahadev
• Please fill all the details along with the driver or if any other person is travelling with you.
• You have to submit the form before the two days of your journey date at assistance tourism office at Joshimath.
• Submit the photocopy of your & your driver's Adhar card too.
• It's a one day travel permission so you have to leave the Joshimath and need to come back in the evening.
• Only 25 tourists per day are allowed to visit this place. Other info is mentioned the application form.

Location & How to Reach Timmersain Mahadev

Timmersain Mahadev is situated in the inner line area of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. The cave is located in Niti area which is about 82 Km from Joshimath which is well connected town of Uttarakhand will all the major facilities for tourists. Sharable cab or vehicle on booking are available at Joshimath. 

Cave is about one kilometer before the Niti village and few kms after Gamshali Village and is situated on a 700 meters walking/trekking distance from main road.
