There many activities in Uttarkashi through which you can spare your time according to your convenience. The names of the activities are:

Temple Visit

There are many temples in Uttarkashi for visit like Kashi Vishwanath temple, Duryodhana temple, Kuteti Devi temple, Shakti Devi temple, Kandar Devta madir, Ekadash Rudra temple and Nagni temple. Every temple has its own importance and story.

Fishing

Assi Ganga River near Uttarkashi gives you an option for angling and meditation. The river abounds in trout. You find two main types of trout here, the more common brown trout and the rarer rainbow trout. You cannot just go off fishing in the river; a permit has to be taken from the Forest Department, which will be made available to you before you set out.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is the perfect option to spend your time with mountains. You can hire the bikes for a nominal rent and explore the area on your own. There are many interesting routes all the time where you can explore the mountains roots.

Gangotri National Park

The Gangotri national park is situated at Gaumukh Pedestrian way, Post Taknaur Range, Uttarkashi. It has a popular Hindu pilgrimage to "Gomukh" temple i.e. the snout of the glacier as well as some very popular trekking routes (Gomukh, Nandanvan, Tapovan, Satopanth, Vasuki tal, Kalindi pass and a lot more) passing through it. The entrance to the park is 2 kms from Gangotri.

Trekking

It is a combination of hiking and walking activity in which people do long walk at mountains. There are many trek routes in Uttarkashi like Dyara Bugyal trek, Har Ki Dun trek, Gaumukh trek and Dodital trek. These treks have different stretch. You can choose the track according to your body strength.

Camping

It is place where a group of people or an individual stay in tents. There are many camps in Uttarkashi at Dyara Bugyal, Dodital, Shikara Nature Resort and Himalayan Eco Lodge (Harshil) where you can enjoy the weather of mountains.

Mountaineering

If you think of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi, then you can’t be miss NIM (Nehru Institute of Mountaineering). It was established at Uttarkashi on 14 Nov 1965 to honor the great desire of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, who was an ardent mountain lover. The aim of the Institute is to introduce Mountaineering and Adventure training courses. They trained the students about the mountaineering at different peaks of the world like Mount Everest. They provide professional training for mountaineering with modern equipments.
