Despite challenging weather in Uttarakhand, the Chardham Yatra and Hemkund Sahib pilgrimage broke all records, with 41,12,995 devotees visiting by July 28, 2025. Kedarnath led with 14,39,666 visitors, followed by Badrinath (12,05,798), Gangotri (6,62,989), Yamunotri (5,80,433), and Hemkund Sahib (2,23,809). Passenger vehicles traveling to Chopta, Char Dham, and other hill destinations in Uttarakhand must now possess a valid Green Card to operate on hilly routes. Without it, such vehicles will not be permitted to ply in these regions.

Tempo Travellers will be operated in Chardham Yatra route, Kumbh area of Haridwar, Mussoorie, Nainital, Champawat, Auli. The Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has launched the "District Disaster Resource Network" to improve the Char Dham Yatra experience. Rudraprayag became the first district to implement its own mobile network, providing free WiFi to pilgrims. This network played a vital role during a July 2024 disaster, facilitating rescue operations and communication when other networks were disrupted.

Offline registration for Chardham Yatra has started from Monday. On the first day, 10419 pilgrims registered in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Herbertpur, Vikasnagar. The registration figure has crossed 22 lakhs including online and offline.

Preparations for opening of Kedarnath Dham is underway, with the Panchmukhi idol of Lord Kedarnath sent to the shrine after rituals in Ukhimath. The Kedarnath temple will open on May 2.
According to the schedule, the doli will proceed to Phata on Tuesday, April 29. It will then move to Gaurikund on Wednesday, April 30. On Thursday, May 1, it is expected to reach Kedarnath Dham by evening. Kedarnath Temple will open for pilgrims on 2 May 2025.

During this year's Chardham Yatra, filming videos and creating social media reels will be strictly prohibited within a 30-meter radius of the Badrinath and Kedarnath temple premises. The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) is set to implement this rule to ensure better crowd management and maintain the sanctity of the temple areas.
Additionally, strict action will be taken against individuals spreading misinformation on social media. The use of mobile phones for video recording or making reels within the restricted zone will not be permitted under any circumstances.

With Kedarnath witnessing the highest number of devotees during the Chardham Yatra, special arrangements are being made for their accommodation and food. Starting from May 2, the Kedarnath Yatra will have provisions for the night stay of up to 15,000 devotees within the Dham premises each night. Additionally, around 2,000 pilgrims will be accommodated at various halt points along the trekking route.

Registration for Chardham Yatra has started from 20 March 2025. It will be mandatory for the devotees to provide Aadhar card details for registration.
