• Weather: Harsh and cold, with lingering snow from the winter. While daytime temperatures rise slightly, nights remain frigid. Snow can still cover parts of the trekking route, making it a difficult time for trekking. Trekking may begin as the snow starts to melt in late April, but conditions can still be challenging. Only experienced trekkers should consider this season, with proper gear for cold weather and snow conditions.

Summer (May to June)

• Temperature: 0°C to 12°C
• Weather: Relatively milder with cool days and cold nights. Snow begins to melt, making the trekking route to Kedartal accessible. Daytime temperatures are pleasant, but nights can still dip below freezing. This is one of the best times to visit Kedartal for trekking. The clear skies and favorable weather offer breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks like Thalay Sagar, Meru, and Bhrigupanth.

Monsoon (July to September)

• Temperature: 2°C to 10°C
• Weather: Cool with moderate rainfall in lower regions, though the area around Kedartal itself remains relatively dry due to its altitude. The trail, however, can become slippery, and there is a risk of landslides in the approach to the trek. Trekking during the monsoon season is not ideal due to potential roadblocks and the risk of landslides. However, if trekked cautiously, the lake’s surroundings become lush and vibrant, making for a scenic, albeit risky, experience.

Autumn (October to November)

• Weather: Clear and crisp, with cold temperatures setting in as winter approaches. Post-monsoon, the skies are crystal clear, offering spectacular views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. This is another excellent time to trek to Kedartal. The clear skies and dry weather make it ideal for trekking, photography, and enjoying the serene beauty of the glacial lake. However, as November progresses, the temperatures start to drop significantly.
