To reduce human disturbance and enhance wildlife protection, Corbett Tiger Reserve has announced a ban on mobile phones during jungle safaris, permitting only professional cameras such as DSLRs.

The restriction will apply to visitors, guides, drivers, and staff across all 15 tourism zones, including popular areas like Dhikala, Bijrani, and Jhirna. The move aims to improve visitor experience while ensuring the safety and well-being of wildlife.

The Corbett Tiger Reserve is also expected to follow suit, with safaris likely to restart in popular zones such as Bijrani and Dhikala.

The state forest department said the move will enable low-disturbance wildlife viewing while generating much-needed revenue for conservation efforts.

Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand has achieved a historic milestone, generating a record-breaking ?29.80 crore in revenue for the financial year 2024-25. The park welcomed an impressive more than 4 Lakh tourists this year, including 4,48,095 Indian visitors and 11,300 international travelers.

A three-day survey to count aquatic animals, including crocodiles, gharials, and otters, has commenced in the Kalagarh region of Corbett Tiger Reserve.

On the first day, Monday, officials carried out the census in the Afzalgarh Barrage and Saddle Dam area under the Kalagarh Range, following directives from senior Corbett Tiger Reserve authorities.

In a significant move for tiger conservation in Uttarakhand, preparations are complete to transfer the fifth tiger from Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) to Rajaji National Park in Dehradun. Previously, four tigers (two males and two females) were successfully relocated and have adapted well to their new habitat.

The Forest Department launched the Tiger Reintroduction Project in 2020, aiming to strengthen the tiger population in Rajaji while maintaining ecological balance. Officials confirm that the relocated tigers are thriving and breeding naturally, further supporting conservation efforts in the region.

Tourists from various parts of India come to celebrate Christmas and New Year in Jim Corbett National Park. All zones of Corbett Park are packed before Christmas and New Year, day safari and night stay guest house are full till 5 January. The Corbett hotels and resorts are also packed almost 70 percent from 25 December to 1 January.

In Uttarakhand, the new safari routes - Mohan range (Almora) & Kaladhungi heritage zone (Ramnagar) in Kumaon division- were opened by the forest department recently. Tourists can go for safari in both the new tourism zone. In both the new tourism zones, wildlife such as tigers, elephants, leopards, and deer may be sighted, apart from the world of birds and butterflies.

The most famous tourist zone of Jim Corbett Park, Dhikala, will also be opened for tourists on 15 November. From the same day, tourists will also be able to enjoy night stay in the rooms built in different tourist zones of the park.

Other Safari Zones which will open on 15 Nov are Durgadevi, Sonanadi and Pakhro.

In 2022-23, Corbett Park welcomed 6,100 foreign tourists. This number has significantly increased to 9,000 in 2023-24. As a result, the earnings of Corbett National Park have nearly doubled, rising from ?13.13 crores in 2022-23 to ?23.24 crores in 2023-24.
