Gangotri Dham opened today on 30 April and on this occasion Cheif Minister reached Gangotri Dham.
With the opening of the gates of Gangotri Dham, tourists will start getting permission to go to Gaumukh trek.
Range officer Pradeep Bisht said that last Friday a team from Kankhu barrier went for a recce of the Gomukh trek. He said that the 18 kms route has been made completely smooth. He said that after the permission of the administration, tourists will be allowed to go from April 30.
Chief Minister Dhami said that all preparations have been completed for the Char Dham Yatra 2025. He told, “The doors of Yamunotri and Gangotri will open on 30 April. Kedarnath Dham will open on May 2 while Badrinath Dham will open on May 4.

Under the leadership of the Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, the state police are fully prepared to ensure the Char Dham Yatra is conducted smoothly, safely, and securely.
As part of these preparations, Inspector General of Police and Director of Traffic, Narayan Singh Napalchal, who is also the nodal officer for Gangotri Dham, visited Uttarkashi last Tuesday to review and strengthen the travel arrangements.

Registration for Chardham Yatra has started from 20 March 2025. It will be mandatory for the devotees to provide Aadhar card details for registration. With the closing of Badrinath Temple on 17 Nov, the Char Dham Yatra for year 2024 has concluded. Over 46.17 lakh pilgrims visited Char Dham this year.

More than six thousand devotees arrived in Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham last day. With this, the number of visiting devotees in these two Dhams during this Yatra period has crossed twelve lakhs. This time a large number of pilgrims are also coming to both the Dhams through heli services. In view of this, the administration has made all the necessary arrangements to ensure that the Yatra is completed in a safe and systematic manner along with making the arrangements related to the Yatra foolproof.
A record number of 923772 lakh pilgrims have visited these shrines in which 450895 lakhs reached Yamunotri and 472877 lakhs pilgrims reached Gangotri.
In past 12 days of opening, over 1.38 lakh devotees have visited Gangotri dham this year.
The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is set to commence on May 10, and even before its initiation, a record-breaking number of devotees have registered. According to the tourism department report, 494,129 registrations have been recorded for Kedarnath, 414,260 for Badrinath, 265,110 for Gangotri, 243,982 for Yamunotri, and 21,804 for Hemkund Sahib.
Around 6 inch snowfall recorded in Harsil on 02 Mar 2024. There has been snowfall in Harsil along with Char Dham in Uttarakhand and other high altitude. Though the Badrinath temple is closed for winters, the opening date of Badrinath has been announced.
Snowfall was reported on Monday in regions such as Kedarnath Dham, including Madmaheshwar, Tungnath, Chandrashila, etc. Additionally, light snowfall was observed in tourist spots like Chopta, Dugalbitta and in Deoriatal.
The phenomenon extended to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham, Harshil Valley, and other high-altitude areas of Uttarkashi. Despite the snowfall, road movements remained unaffected at present.
This year in 2023, a record of 9 lakh pilgrims reached Gangotri Dham. It has been found that the four shrines together recorded 54.2 lakh pilgrims.
The pilgrimage season in 2023 has marked a historic milestone with this substantial increase in the number of visitors, creating an atmosphere of spiritual vibrancy and fervor at Gangotri Dham.
