Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the ongoing International Yoga Festival (IYF) at Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh on Friday. He joined spiritual leaders and participants from around the world on the banks of the Ganga River for a traditional yagna and evening Ganga aarti in Rishikesh.

The week-long festival has attracted over 1,500 participants from nearly 80 countries. The event includes yoga sessions, meditation practices, philosophical discussions, and cultural programmes, promoting yoga and spiritual tourism in the region.

Veteran actor Dalip Tahil embraced adventure at the age of 73 by going river rafting in Rishikesh. The actor was seen navigating the strong rapids of the Ganges River, showcasing his adventurous spirit during the thrilling activity.

Due to monsoon, there is a danger of increased water flow in the waterfall and slippery conditions on the trekking route. The Forest Department has alerted the Waterfall Operation Committee, after which the committee has taken this decision. The official date will be announced in the next two days.

On International Yoga Day, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) organized yoga sessions in remote villages along the India-China border. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Kedarnath and Badrinath temples in Uttarakhand on Monday, commemorating 100 days of her Delhi government’s tenure.

On Sunday morning, she took a sacred dip in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar, with her family, followed by spiritual programs and meetings with religious leaders. That evening, CM Gupta joined the Ganga Aarti in Rishikesh.

The Uttarakhand government has signed an MoU with Swiss ropeway manufacturer Bartholet Maschinenbau AG to develop a ropeway linking Tapovan in Rishikesh to the Kunjapuri Temple in Narendranagar, boosting sustainable tourism and pilgrimage infrastructure.

Chardham Yatra is being conducted uninterruptedly in the state. So far more than 4 lakh devotees have visited the Dhams. Heli services for Shri Kedarnath Dham are also fully operational.

Message from Uttarakhand CM regarding Char Dham Yatra

The Chardham Yatra is progressing seamlessly, with comprehensive measures in place for devotee safety and efficient traffic management to ensure a hassle-free experience. The Uttarakhand Police urge pilgrims to disregard misleading news or rumors, reaffirming their commitment to a secure and smooth journey for all.

Offline registration for Chardham Yatra has started from Monday. On the first day, 10419 pilgrims registered in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Herbertpur, Vikasnagar. The registration figure has crossed 22 lakhs including online and offline.

On the first day, 741 passengers left Rishikesh for Chardham in 19 rotation buses. Most of the passengers were from Madhya Pradesh. Garhwal Commissioner and DM also reached the transit camp and inspected the travel arrangements. Check Char Dham Tours.

The Chief Minister announced that a new multi-storey parking facility in Rishikesh, accommodating over 1,000 vehicles, will significantly alleviate traffic and parking issues. The 14.57-km tunnel no. 8 between Devprayag and Janasu, part of the 125-km Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Link Project, marked a milestone with its breakthrough on Wednesday. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw witnessed the breakthrough of India’s longest rail tunnel at Janasu in Uttarakhand on Wednesday.

The project aims to bridge infrastructure gaps, enhance the overall tourist experience, and stimulate economic growth by centralizing rafting operations and upgrading facilities. Currently, a systematic booking system for rafting adventures is lacking at popular starting points like Brahmapuri, Shivpuri, and Kaudiyala, as well as at ending points such as Neem Beach, Laxman Jhula, and Janki Jhula. Devprayag Police has taken a big decision to stop the increasing vehicle accidents at night on Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway. It has been decided to ban the movement of vehicles at night on Devprayag Rishikesh Highway from November 1. Only emergency services will be free from this ban.

There will be a ban on the movement of vehicles between Devprayag and Rishikesh from 10 pm to 5 am. If people are planning to travel at night, they should stop at Rishikesh, Srinagar, Devprayag, otherwise they may have to face trouble. This step has been taken for the safety of local people and travelers.
